Tailor-made additives strongly influence the outcome of a crystallization process. With a single chiral additive the symmetry breaking during Viedma ripening can be directed to either enantiomer at will; depending on the conditions by enantioselective growth inhibition or by homochiral solid solution formation and dissolution inhibition.
